Doesn't Extra's shopping cart already have a download option?
Yes it does! But our mission with Extra is to help photographers make print sales. To help accomplish this we've added a new feature for special High Resolution Downloads for gallery owners.
Okay great! How does it help me make more money?
In the past digital download pricing was a 1 size fits all decision, you could make them FREE or charge a fee but you couldn't have both. This meant that if you didn't want to open up FREE downloads for everyone and your customer pre-paid or had digital files included with their package you'd need to fulfill that on your own (ftp, dropbox, DVD, thumbdrives - yikes!!).
A better way is here! We recommend, pre-selling the digital files to your customers or including them in their package then allow Extra to do the delivery and download management. This not only frees up your time, but it also means you can set custom pricing for digital images for the rest of the gallery visitors to make sales on downloads OR encourage print orders.
Okay I'm sold, how does it work?
Easy, when creating a new gallery just let us know who the gallery owner is and they and no one else will get the ability to download all the high res images without going through the shopping cart.
You can always change this email in the advanced settings for past galleries.
Then when the gallery owner signs in they will be the only ones to see the "Download All Imaes" button. They just click "download all images", and an email is sent to them with a link to download all the high resolution images (when we say High Resolution we mean straight outta Lightroom 100% Export Size). No shopping cart, no credit cards, no hassle.
How long will they be able to download the files for?
Once they receive the download email they can use the link for 7 days. This gives your customers the best window for availability without becoming a reason NOT to buy prints and interact with their gallery images.
But what if they lose the email or wait too long to access the download?
No worries we thought about that too, the gallery owner can come back and request another download link as many times as needed by clicking the "Download All Images" button and we'll manage the files, email, links, expiration and communication.
What if I need to revoke download access?
We get it sometimes people share their free download links. We have you covered, if for any reason you want to revoke access to the downloads you can just go into your galleries advanced settings and remove the "gallery owner email" - that will disable the button immediately.
