Lightroom 5 - Job Preparation Tutorial (Master Catalog)
Job preparation for ShootDotEdit is the same process in all versions of Lightroom, after Lightroom 5.
1. Open your web browser and navigate to: www.shootdotedit.com
2. Click on the “client login” link at the top right
3. Under already a customer, enter your client ID or the email address on file
4. Enter your password and click “sign in”
5. Under “downloads” click on the ShootDotEdit Lightroom Catalog that corresponds to your version of Lightroom
6. In your downloads folder, locate the “SDE Catalog LR#.zip” file
7. Move the “SDE Catalog LR#.zip” file to your Desktop
8. Double-click on the zip file to unzip it
9. Double-click the unzipped file to launch Lightroom.
10. Lightroom will ask if you would like to relaunch with a new Catalog, click “Relaunch”
11. A new Lightroom Catalog has been opened. There will not be any images in this catalog. Don’t worry, your Master Catalog and images are not gone! We are just going to work in this Catalog for a few minutes.
12. Click “import” in the bottom left
13. Select one (1) image to import into this catalog. It doesn’t have to be an image that you are submitting to ShootDotEdit, it’s simply going to act as a place holder
14. Click “Import” in the bottom right to import this one (1) image
15. Your temporary image is now located in the ShootDotEdit Template Catalog!
16. Off to the left, about ½ way down the screen you will see a set of collections
17. Click on the arrow to the left of “My Job” to expand that collection set
18. Click on the arrow to the left of “Drag & Drop Images” to expand that collection set as well
19. Drag and drop the one (1) image that we imported into this catalog into the following collections:

01. CULL these
-
02. Keep these during CULL
-
03. Color Correct these
- 04. Make these B/W
20. In the top left of Lightroom, click “File” and “Open Recent”
21. Select your Master Catalog from the list
22. Lightroom will ask if you would like to relaunch with a new Catalog, click “Relaunch”
23. After Lightroom has fully launched, in the top left of Lightroom, click “File” and “Import from Another Catalog”
24. Navigate to your desktop and locate the file “SDE Catalog LR#.lrcat”
25. Click “Choose”
26. Ensure all folders are checked, and click “Import”
27. The import will start and you will notice that all of the ShootDotEdit Template Collections have now been imported into your Master Catalog!
NOTE: Steps 1 - 27 do not have to be repeated unless a new Master Catalog is created
28. Click on the arrow to the left of “My Job” to expand that collection set
29. Click on the arrow to the left of “Drag & Drop Images” to expand that collection set as well
30. Remove the temporary image from the following collections:

01. CULL these
-
02. Keep these during CULL
-
03. Color Correct these
- 04. Make these B/W
31. Navigate through your computer and locate the images you would like to send to ShootDotEdit
Note: This might look different in your Master Catalog
32. Select all of the images you would like send to ShootDotEdit and drag and drop them into the “03. Color Correct These” collection
33. Select the “03. Color Correct These” collection, and right-click
34. Select “Export this Collection as a Catalog”
35. You will be exporting one (1) job from your Master Catalog, locate place on your computer you would like to place these files
Note: We recommend placing these in the folder with your original image files (external hard drives are NOT recommended)
36. Name the Lightroom Catalog that you will be exporting. You are welcome to choose any naming structure you would like as long as there are NO special characters (&, #, -, _, etc.).
37. Ensure “Build/Include Smart Previews” and “Include Available Previews” are checked
38 . Click “Export Catalog”
39. A new Catalog will be exported, and any Smart Previews required will be built at this time
Wait until all progress bars are complete before moving onto the next steps
40. Click “Lightroom” > “Quit Lightroom” to close the program
41. Navigate through your computer to locate the files we just exported.
42. You will need to submit the following files to ShootDotEdit:
- Lightroom Catalog
- Smart Previews
- Standard Sized Preview
