What is a DotPreview?
A DotPreview is like free insurance for your job! Its our guarantee that you will like your color corrections :) After you submit your job, we will carefully choose 10 images that best represent the various lighting scenarios in your event, and then hand color correct according to your chosen color profile.
We will deliver the DotPreview in one business day or less!
Only once you have taught us what we need to know about you, will we begin production on the rest of the job. If you feel that the Color Profile does not work with your images, we will re-do your DotPreview with your new chosen Color Profile.
And, we will do this as many times as you like until we get it the way you like it!
When should I use a DotPreview?
You should always select the DotPreview option for your first and second job with us. Don't worry, if you are new to the process, the SDE will always ensure that these first two jobs receive a DotPreview, even if it's not ordered. :)
Once you are past these first two jobs, you are welcome to opt out of the DotPreview process. However, if you would like to know EXACTLY what your job will look like with your chosen Color Profile applied, a DotPreview will do just that!
Some good examples of when to order a DotPreview are: a main subject with a different skin tone that all previous jobs, a family session/event where there are mixed skin tones, an event with really difficult lighting situation, etc...
Why shouldn't a photog use a DotPreview with every job?
As you start becoming more comfortable with combining SDE into your personal workflow, the DotPreview will no longer need to be ordered with each job. :)
Without a DotPreview, your event will go directly into production. This will start your turn-around time IMMEDIATELY.
Once your job arrives to SDE, a DotPreview will be returned via email within 1 business day, this adds an additional day (or more!) onto your turn-around time. Also, it requires an approval from you (via email), which adds steps to your personal workflow.
Are you unsure where to go?
Remember, our Color Consultants are here to help!
They are available to help answer all of your SDE Color Processing questions even if you did NOT order a DotPreview!
Happy Shooting! :)
